"Might we see more of J.J. Redick in Game 2...He did a respectable job defending Kobe Bryant and his shooting could certainly provide a boost on a night when so many of his teammates couldn't convert from outside." ~John Hollinger ESPN "insider"
That's right VanGundy, more Redick on Kobe is a viable option based on he "respectable" Kobe defense. [eyes fall out of sockets]
Is this nut serious or did he just run out of things to write about today? I want a job as an ESPN "insider". My evaluations/musings couldn't be any worse than this.
Sean C. -- Totally agree. But did he do something else?
Cortez -- I literally spit out water when I read that. Mind you, I wasn't drinking anything, so his statement was so ridiculous it created a time warp in my mouth that pulled the water from some past or future time.
Yeah, he called you guys "hacks" in the comments section of his recap of last night's game (it's the last comment): https://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=13687278&postID=7164422325498482264.
He's also been trying to cause shit with John Krolik at Cavs the Blog: http://www.cavstheblog.com/?p=348
Cortez - You gotta remember, I don't think Hollinger actually watches the games, or if he does, he just ignores whatever he sees or what "common sense" tells him, and instead goes strictly with what the stats tell him. So rather than recognize that Redick was in there during garbage time while Kobe was doing his whole "4 more points and I'm audi with 40, so I'm gonna fire away like I was Chuck Person cause we're up 30 with 5 minutes left and who gives a shit anyway" routine, Hollinger just sees that Kobe went 1-5 against Redick and thus deduces that Redick is the latest "Kobe Stopper".
Laker fans everywhere are hoping that SVG follows Hollinger's advice.
Sean C. -- Friedman is a great blogger to follow, if you want the 10,000-word equivalent of watching an adult male give Kobe Bryant a blowjob. The dude is such an ass, and regularly gets blasted by the rest of the basketball blogging/writing community...so he turns that around by "calling out" guys like Henry Abbott and John Krolik and dismissing me and Knickerblogger (who does great work, by the way) as "hacks." I just laugh at him and his deceased mustache (which I couldn't help but noticed mysteriously disappeared after I mercilessly mocked him for it a couple years back).
Wild Yams -- CHUCK PERSON REFERENCE!!! I think I love you!
Hmm...so I saw Sean C.'s/Basketbawful's exchange and I thought, "David Friedman? That pseudo-economist whose blog I used to read?" (http://daviddfriedman.blogspot.com/) But, apparently, there are other David Friedman's in the world that are even less notable than the one of which I know.
This press conference was pretty funny. The media guy was somewhat misinformed, however, when he began to say that without establishing Dwight down low the three point shooters have no chance. Howard is such a poor post player that Orlando actually does the opposite: they shoot from three to open things up for Dwight down low enough for him to be able to use his slow, rudimentary game without fear of being double teamed. The guy's most effective move in the half court, by far, is the put-back. They play the exact opposite of inside-outside basketball which is one of the reasons I don't trust them (and am mystified they've gotten this far).
Indeed I do.

Who does he think Redick is? Dahntay Jones?
...oh, wait, he should be so lucky.
