During the 1981-82 season, Caldwell Jones ranked 9th in total blocked shots, 9th in blocks per game, and made the All-Defensive First Team. Those honors make the fact that he got posterized by a one-handed dunk from a white guy who was specifically known for his lack of jumping ability that much more awesome.

I couldn't help but chuckle at "'In your face!', as they say!"

It's so weird to look at the play styles of that era and how almost foreign they seem compared to today's.

Definetly a WOTN!

Mario Elie, unintentionally dirty quote machine:

"Sometimes I give it to them a little harder, and I've got to learn to give it to them smoother."

Hell yeah!

Where are all the pointless between the leg dribbles and the desperate drives to the basket flailing around begging for a foul instead of making that dumb-ass extra pass?

Lazy bums!

I've never loved any play call ever more than "In your face, as they say."

This has nothing to do with anything, but I think you all should consider removing Joakim Noah from the bawful banner.

A pic of him in his draft day suit smiling that goofy grin would be fine, but as much as I can't stand him, I can't deny that he's a pretty solid player.

Anyone count how many steps Leapin' Larry takes there? I know they were only itty-bitty teeny-tiny Babe Ruth-rounding-the bases steps, but there's at least four of them

You know, I don't really agree with the whole "posterization" thing. A good defender steps up and tries to defend the basket, and does so because it is a critical part of team success. Even the best ever will get burned with some frequency. The point is to get a hand in the face.

But in the mano-a-mano war metaphor that has dominated the NBA for over a decade, it is seen as domination, frequently in sexist terms. Fact is, I admire a player that tries to alter the shot while not picking up the foul. He should be praised. And if I guy makes the dunk, he should be praised for making a tough shot, not for "posterizing."

Part of the reason I don't like it is that players have become so conscious of their reputations. Consequently, some won't even challenge a shot that way for fear of being posterized.

In other words, the John Starks dunk should be remembered for it being THE John Starks dunk, not for whom he dunked over.

Wtf!

At first i thought this was some funny self-made trailer for the real game, but if they're gonna publish it like that, it is the biggest piece of crap i've ever seen.

I've played better basketball games on my SNES!

Even Matt Bonner is shooting over the backboard now. Apparently there is nothing special about it anymore.

I nominate [school name removed] for WOTW. They managed just 11 points in the 1st half against Minnesota and shot just 27.6% for the game. They only had 2 players with more than 5 points. I would hate to be Basketbawful or Bad Dave right now.

So they were just praising Anderson "Sideshow Bob" Varejao on ABC during the Cavs-Celtics game and Mark Jackson said "He's so good, he just has his DNA all over everything"

Sent off in the span of 89 seconds with 2 boneheaded moves! Utter and total fail.

Imho FU mode requires the player's team missing all their easy shots in addition to the opponent hitting everything. ;)
