From the Denver Post:

"I feel me being here and what I've done for this (team) ... (an offer) would have at least been extended, and it wasn't," Martin told The Denver Post. "I don't know who made that decision, but the decision was made. And I ain't happy. They know it. Everybody knows it.

"I'm not rushing whatsoever. The day I come back is the day I come back," Martin said. "Think about it: Ain't nobody in a hurry to give me a contract, so why would I be in a hurry to rush back and risk further injury? Makes all the sense in the world, right? Trust me, I've thought about it plenty.

"I didn't get hurt on my own. I got hurt playing basketball. I didn't get hurt doing something I wasn't supposed to be doing. I got hurt playing basketball. Overuse, is what the doctor told me. I got a tear in my patella. I didn't get that nowhere else but playing for the Nuggets last year."
Kinda reminds me of when Shaq waited all summer to have toe surgery, then did it right before the Lakers' training camp started and said: "I got hurt on company time, so I'll heal on company time." That was The Big Lazy's next-to-last season in L.A.

So yeah, I'm sure this thing with Martin will totally end well.

Unrelated but NBA 2k11 reviews are coming out

"NBA 2K11 is the greatest Basketball game ever made"

To be fair to Kenyon Martin, he had the surgery done in June and was given a 3-6 month recovery timetable, so it's not as if this is in any way last minute or a surprise to the Nuggets.

K-Mart's headed for the clearance aisle.

"I got hurt playing basketball" is the new "we talkin' 'bout practice," apparently.

And yeah, that NBA 2K11 review was very strong. I'm excited.

Excellent. Consider me his first nod for a starting position on the 10-11 All-Crazy Team.

A glowing review with the notable exception of My Player. Well, we'll see soon enough. Iirc I had to take a D-League tour of duty in my first 2k10 player as well, so it may just take some adjusting to avoid a humbling season in the NBADL.

wv: shott- in case it doesn't work out that well...

Good riddance. Kenyon Martin is/was overrated. Although I'm not sure Al Harrington will much better at all. Nuggets need to start over. Get back some good young talent. Move Billups and run with Ty + a bunch of young guns ...

K-Mart shouldn't worry. He's got at least a few vet minimum deals to look forward to. Hope he saved all that money.

I guess if you got hurt at your workplace you'd use your vacation days to rehab 24/7 in order not to appear lazy.

Shaq did not work as hard as he could have (...) but that was a poor example.

LOL! Did anybody else hear Iverson's "Practice" speech in the background while reading this, or was it just me?

The Nuggets are going to be a full on disaster, this year and beyond... The front office is in denial if they think this thing can be salvaged. They need to blow the whole thing up and start over, keeping only Ty Lawson and maybe Aaron Afflalo.

Looks like I'm in the market for a new team. *sigh*

Yeah. I'm going to go ahead and put money down that Anonymous there doesn't have a real job. Student? Part-time gig at Best Buy to have something to get you out of the parent's basement and away from your internet porn?

If I had a job that was any of: a) was seasonal, b) paid NBA league minimum (not to mention what the Nestle Sherriff gets paid) and c) competed for a championship? Uhhh, yes. I would exactly rehab in the off season.

Just watched the video recap of last night's Europe Live game between the Knicks and AJ Milan. Love it how the commentator tries to sell Amar'e as a basketball genius. At one point, STATue hits a lucky, D-Wade style layup with his back turned away from the hoop, and they say: "He doesn't even have to look! He's that good at basketball!", and then something along the lines of: "Knicks fans should be real happy...". Don't get me wrong, he did have some awesome highlight moves, and he did score 32 points (yet he again failed to register at least ten rebounds - does this guy hate rebounding that much?), but when the TV crew has to remind you that your star player is a basketball player, as opposed to a...pastry chef(?), things can't turn out right.
