Worst Evers: H-O-R-S-E beatdowns

It's good to be King, right? Not when you get your Royal Ass handed to you in a H-O-R-S-E competition by -- wait for it -- 26-year-old warehouse worker. Here are some video highlights:

The conquering hero is David Kalb, who won the matchup with James in an online contest, "LeBron’s Trick Shot Challenge sponsored by Cub Cadet."

Evil Ted and I watched the video together, hooting and high-fiving the whole time, and by the time LeBron missed that banked three-pointer, ET said: "That kid's in Lebron's head." He was. And Kalb new it. "After I beat him, he's like 'best of three, right?' I could tell he was frustrated. After missing a couple of easy ones, he hit the ball in disgust."

LeBron tried to blame his sad performance on ocean breezes and bright sun, and at one point he apparently grinned and said "That wind." Which I'm sure you'll agree is pretty weak. Like, watered-down herbal tea weak.

This isn't that strange of a phenomenon, though. Deron Williams got tested by some dude in a backyard court and Steve Nash lost The Steve Nash Challege to some random schlub from Utah...while he was the reigning MVP. So, you know, it happens.

Thanks to Brandon from Ballerblogger for the head's up.

  1. Dude, I never understood this game. What´s the deal? If you make a basket, then the other guy has to make it from the same spot?

That´s why basketball is the #8 sport in Brazil...

  2. baguete -- Pretty much. You have to shoot from the same spot, and in the same way. Like, if your opponent banks it in, you have to bank it in (although some people require that you call the bank shot, but whatever).

  3. They either had a monkey operating that camera or the cameraman has never played a game of HORSE in his life. Seriously, I couldn't even see the first couple of shots that guy put up because of the incompetent camerawork.

  5. dandruff102 -- The video has been pulled off of YouTube...probably by LeBron's "people."

  7. That guy that faced Deron had a niiice court! Schools here in Toronto don't even have courts that nice. Heck, the gym I go to doesn't have a court that nice. Probably cost 10-15k... As for LeBron, I think he was dragged there by his PR people. His body language clearly showed he could care less...

  8. you know MJ would have never let that dude beat him. Neither would Bird, and I doubt kobe would have either. LBJ doesnt have their psychopathic desire to win (or score the most in KB's case), yet.

  9. Dude, All he had to do was dunk it 5 times in a row and boom, game over. Unless that guy uses those strength shoes and can jam.

  10. @ AK Dave

a). Lebron never got the chance. The other guy was in control the entire way.

b). After the game was over, the other guy threw it down with a bouncing oop too himself, so he had hops.

On a different note: Have the Cavs found their new outside shooting/backflipping alley oop throwing threat?! And we know this guy can handle pressure.
